Explosive Weapons
Bombing and shelling of towns and cities is having a devastating and deadly impact on civilians. Article 36 coordinates the International Network on Explosive Weapons (INEW), and are advocating for states to develop and implement stronger international standards, including restrictions on the use of explosive weapons in populated areas and to work for the full realisation of rights of victims and survivors.
The adoption by states of a political declaration in 2022 was a major milestone. Article 36 is fed into the negotiations, and is now working through our partnerships and networks on implementation.
