Job advert – Communications and Campaigns Officer
The organisation
Article 36 is a specialist non-profit organisation, focused on reducing harm from weapons. A small and effective team, we work together with civil society partners and governments to develop new policies and legal standards to prevent civilian harm from existing and emerging weapons.
Article 36 also provides coordination for international civil society coalitions and initiatives, including the International Network on Explosive Weapons (INEW) and the Explosive Weapons Monitor, working to prevent human suffering from the use of explosive weapons in populated areas.
Communications Officer
Article 36 is looking for a full-time Communications and Campaigns Officer to oversee the communications activities and outputs for INEW and the Explosive Weapons Monitor. The primary role will be:
- To ensure regular, quality communications outputs on our communications platforms including websites, social media platforms, newsletters, occasional media outreach, and ongoing external communication;
- To develop engaging content that communicates human stories and humanitarian impacts of explosive weapon use, key policy recommendations and the activities and impact of our network’s advocacy;
- To support internal communications and media outreach and events.
The position will be UK based, working from home with possibilities to travel.
Weapons and armed violence often disproportionately affect marginalised groups who continue to be under-represented in international policymaking; these groups include black people and other people of colour, women, LGBTQ+ people, people with disabilities and people of different faiths and beliefs. Consequently, we are committed to diversifying our team and strongly encourage applications from people who can bring new and different ideas and perspectives to our work.
The salary is £38,000-42,000 and the position is an initial 12-month contract with possibility to renew.
